Sample collection, case investigation, and rapid response to suspected livestock disease outbreaks.
The department maintains an active surveillance posture across the FCT, collecting samples for suspected notifiable diseases, investigating unusual mortality reports from farmers, and coordinating rapid response when an outbreak is confirmed — including movement restrictions and ring vaccination where appropriate.
